Michael Shaw
Michael Shaw's field is ecological design. He is an engineer by training and has been involved in all phases of the development and implementation of natural wastewater treatment systems as the director of Ocean Arks International since 1989. He has worked extensively in the USA on wastewater treatment systems, constructed wetlands, living machines and restorers for companies, universities, communities and the state. With John Todd he is the author of two wastewater treatment patents. Michael is a partner of the Ecovillage Institute and has worked around the world solving severe problems of water contamination. Michael also does ecological consulting and is an expert on carbon neutral settlements. Michael is a Trustee of the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland.

Galen Fulford
Galen has a great enthusiasm for ecological design and a contagious belief that working with natural processes can simultaneously reduce our environmental impact and increase the vitality and efficiency of our human systems. Galen's experience in ecological engineering combined with his skill in working with diverse cultures and situations has lead him to manage complex ecological engineering projects in the USA, India, Bolivia, Hong Kong and Russia as part of the Ecovillage Institute Team. Galen is a founder of the One Water Network and coordinates hands-on trainings in the practical solutions to the problems of: water scarcity, contamination and land degradation. The cornerstones of this work: community collaboration, water recycling, reforestation and organic agriculture, strongly support the global objectives of the United Nations millennium development goals. Galen has worked for over ten years as a wilderness guide and teacher of personal and social development skills, he has worked extensively with at-risk groups of convicted felons and addicts and integrates community, art, and wilderness in his teaching.

Lisa Shaw
Lisa is an artist, designer and environmental educator. Studies include a BFA from The Cooper Union School of Art and MFA studies from Grays School of Art, Aberdeen. She has worked on water restoration projects in India, China, Bolivia, Russia and the UK as part of the Ecovillage Institute team, educating for the restoration and sustainable use of water and soil. This work targets problems of water scarcity, contamination and land degradation. Lisa has completed the UNITAR endorsed Ecovillage Design Education Training in 2006. Lisa has also been actively involved in youth leadership and empowerment. She-co founded Lookfar Connections, an environmental education cooperative, and Grasshopper Art and Nature Camp for children, which she ran for five years. Lisa creates paintings on canvas, photographs, and educational murals and has taught art to adults and children.

Alex Walker
Alex Walker is a consultant working in the fields of sustainability and social enterprise. His main interests are in creating community-based enterprises for both renewable energy and affordable housing projects. He is chairman of the Ekopia development trust, which has raised substantial investment capital for community projects in retailing, ecological accommodation and wind energy, and operates both a local currency scheme and a land trust. He also lectures widely in the UK on the prospects for a low carbon economy and the philosophy of sustainability. He is chairman of Development Trusts Association Scotland, a director of Findhorn Wind Park Ltd., and a member of the management committee of the Moray Housing Partnership.
